We continue to update our policies and best practices based on recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health , CDC, Cook County Department of Emergency Management, and Advocate Lutheran General EMS System, please consult their respective websites for a wealth of information regarding COVID-19. Similarly, we have protective gowns and gloves that can further reduce the risk of spreading the disease between our Firefighter/Paramedics and residents. Our members sanitize our ambulances after each emergency incident and wear protective masks that prevent the spread of COVID-19 between us and anyone we interact with. We are constantly striving to mitigate the risks associated with the disease so that we may prevent the spread of the illness while transporting those who need emergency care to the hospital. If the subsequent test result is positive, follow isolation guidelines.The NFD is committed to providing the best possible care for the community throughout the duration of the COVID-19 Pandemic. If you are symptomatic, please stay home and test after 24 hours or seek out PCR testing at your local provider or local public health testing site. It does not rule out a COVID-19 infection. Contact your health care provider or go to the doctor if you develop 'emergency warning signs' such as trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, the inability to wake or stay awake, or gray/blue-colored skin, lips or nails.Ī negative test result means the virus that causes COVID-19 was not detected in the specimen collected. If you need validated results or a letter stating you tested positive or negative, you will need to seek testing from your health care provider or from a state or local public health testing site. At home tests are available just inside the north entrance of our office (located at 500 East Front Avenue, in Bismarck) between 9 a.m. Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health is distributing at-home COVID-19 tests at no out-of-pocket cost.
